Catalina Express Long Beach has been providing round-trip (year-round) to three different ports - Dana Point, Long Beach, and San Pedro- through the great Catalina Island.

Here are some things and guidelines you should know about before going to the Island!

Long Beach Port

  • Tour Duration: Avalon or Long Beach trips run approximately 1 hour to the Island.

  • Port Address: 320 Golden Shore, Long Beach, CA 90802.

  • Parking Information: Regular parking rates apply and are available for purchase on-site. You can park overnight, and no need to make parking reservations. Accepted payment methods are cash, Mastercard, or Visa. San Pedro Port

  • Tour Duration: The trip from San Pedro to Avalon takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes (Via Two Harbors, additional 45 min. travel time) | Trips to and from San Pedro/Two Harbors take about 1 hour and 15 minutes. (Via Avalon additional 45 min. travel time)

  • Port Address: Berth 95, San Pedro, CA 90731 (at Swinford and Harbor Boulevard).

  • Parking Details: There are two parking options available (hourly and daily). If you plan on going on a short trip, we recommend you get the hourly rate; however, if you plan on staying on the island for a couple of hours or days, then we suggest you pick the daily rate. Hourly rates are free of charge for the first hour. Regular parking rates apply and are available for purchase on-site.

Dana Point Port

  • Travel Duration: Dana Point/Avalon trips took approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on the speed and weather.

  1. Do I need to make a reservation with my Catalina Express ticket before I go to the ferry port?

    Yes. Making a reservation is highly recommended. Guests should book online or by calling (800) 481-3470.

  2. Do I have to choose a date and time for my trip when buying Catalina Express tickets?

    Yes. Knowing that hundreds of people go to Catalina Island every day, they make sure everyone's safety by letting them choose the date and time of their trip to avoid overcrowding the boat.

  3. How soon will I get my FunEx Catalina Express tickets?

    Your FunEx Catalina Express tickets will be sent to you immediately via email, along with your receipt. Please remember to print Catalina Express tickets before your reservation to check in.

  4. What if I can't go? Do I get my money back?

    All Catalina Express tickets are non-refundable, non-exchangeable and non-transferable. If a guest doesn't show up at the reserved date and time, they will be charged the full round-trip fare.

  5. Are parking fees included in FunEx Catalina Express discount tickets?

    No. Catalina does not own or run any of the parking at any of the terminals. Parking fees may be different at each port. At some ports, you can only park for free for the first hour. Prices can change at any time without notice.

    Yes, you will have to print out your FunEx Catalina Express ticket in order to check in.

  7. What do I need to bring when I check in?

    It would be best if you bring a valid government-issued ID.

  8. I already have a reservation. Do I still have to check in?

    Yes. Guests need a printed boarding pass to get on board. This is given to them after they check in. Failure to do so may lead to the guest being denied entry.

  9. Can I buy drinks and food on the boat? What kind of payment do they take?

    Catalina Boat has a full bar and many small snack bars. Cash, all kinds of credit cards, and Catalina Express gift cards can all be used to pay for purchases.

  10. Can I bring food from the outside into the boat?

    Yes. People can bring their own food and drinks and eat them on board. Consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited.

  11. Are there Covid-19 safety measures on the boats?

    Catalina Boat has made sure that both the boats and the terminals are clean and sanitized.

  12. What are the usual times for departures?

    Departure time varies daily. Most days, boats leave Long Beach Port at 6 a.m., while others leave San Pedro and Dana Point at 8 a.m. Check Catalina's official website to learn more about its schedule.

  13. Do children need a Catalina Express ticket?

    Yes. Passengers between the ages of 2 and 11 should have their own Catalina Express tickets. If you purchase Catalina Express discount tickets from FunEx, you will save up to 16%!

  14. Can people with disabilities get on the boats?

    Catalina Express terminals are ADA-compliant. Some bathroom doorways are small and won't be able to fit all mobility wheelchairs. Before boarding, you can ask Passenger Services for a smaller wheelchair.
