Rosa Barba: The Ocean of One’s Pause
Through July 6
For Rosa Barba, cinema is a medium through which time and space can vibrate, collapse, overlap, and extend. Her conceptual approach to film delves into historical archives, personal stories, and the sensory experience of celluloid, often through the lens of natural landscapes and human impact on the environment.
This installation brings together 15 years of Barba’s work, showcasing film, kinetic sculpture, and sound. At its center is Charge, a newly commissioned piece that explores light as a catalyst for ecological transformation and scientific innovation.
Complementing the installation is a series of performances envisioned by Barba as an “exploded poem.” Each performance features the sonic frequencies of percussionist Chad Taylor, vocalist Alicia Hall Moran, and Barba herself, creating a symphony of sound and image that guests will experience throughout the installation.
Please note: Capacity for all performances is limited, and advance registration is required.
